An Event Like No Other
Wilds Presidents Cup, the greatest sporting event in the southern suburbs.
Held annually on the Saturday after Labor Day, 24 of the best players from Red and Blue go head-to-head in match play competition. Drama, tension, lots of drinking, incredible golf, camaraderie, and sportsmanship are served in equal measure. It’s an event that transcends the sport of golf yet remains true to the classless spirit of Thursday night men's league.
Team Selection
Teams
Both the Red and Blue teams are each made up of twelve captain's picks that have been passed down throughout the years. Creating a bitter rivalry dating all the way back to 2018.
Captains
The position of Captain is bestowed upon one member of each team on a yearly basis. While the selection process for captain is shrouded in mystery their responsibilities to the team are clear. In addition to representing their team with honor and dignity, captains are also responsible for drafting any new team members that year as well as selecting all of the pairings for each round of the Presidents Cup.
Format
Wilds Presidents Cup is a single day event consisting of three 9 hole sessions played over 27 holes. The tournament will include six Fourball matches in session one, six Modified Foursome matches in session two, and twelve Singles matches in session three.
Fourball
In the Fourball session, each member of a two-man team plays his own ball, so four balls are in play on every hole. Each team counts the lowest of its two scores on each hole, and the team whose player has the lowest score wins the hole and is awarded one point. If the low scores are tied, the hole is halved.
Modified Foursome
In the Modified Foursome session both players will tee off. Team will determine which drive they will use and from there play will resume by alternating shots until the hole is completed. The team with the low score on each hole wins that hole and will be awarded one point. If their scores are tied, the hole is halved.
Singles
In Singles, each match features one player from each team. The player with the lower score on each hole wins that hole and is awarded one point. If their scores are tied, the hole is halved.
Scoring
Each match is worth one point, with matches ending in a draw worth ½ point to each side. The first team to reach 18 ½ points wins the Wilds Presidents Cup. If the matches end in a 18-18 draw, the team holding the Wilds Presidents Cup retains it.
Points
Tournament will consist of 36 total matches, each of which is worth one point. There are no extra holes in Presidents Cup matches. Should the two sides be tied after a 9 hole session, each side earns a halve (½ point).
Claiming the Cup
To win the Wilds Presidents Cup outright, a team must collect 18 ½ of the 36 points available. In the case of a 18-18 draw, the winning team from the previous year retains the trophy.
Concessions
Unlike stroke play, players don't have to complete each hole in match play. If a player concedes a stroke – almost always a putt – to his opponent, the opponent picks up his ball, takes the score he would have made on the next stroke and moves on to the next hole.

Course Playing Rules
Divots
If the ball lands in a divot in the fairway it can be removed and dropped from the knee no closer to the hole.
Balls Lost or Out of Bounds
Wilds GC has NOT adopted the new USGA alternative to Stroke and Distance to allow golfers the option to drop the ball in the vicinity of where the ball is lost or out of bounds (including the nearest fairway area), under a two-stroke penalty. You must take the stroke and distance.
